I hope everyone had an okay week, whether you are quarantining at home or out as an essential worker. Film and television can be a great escape to take our minds off of everything. I’m here with a little bit of exciting news in the entertainment world. This weekend is full of excellent options to stream! It’s almost as if this exact weekend was created in a lab and catered to all of my interests. Let’s take a look at what there is to watch
New Series
Defending Jacob
Starring Chris Evans, Michelle Dockery, Jaden Martell
New Chris Evans show. I repeat we’ve got a new Chris Evans show! I subscribed to Apple TV if that tells you how dedicated I am to watching this.
Defending Jacob is all about Andy Barbour, a district attorney in Massachusetts who finds out that his teenage son Jacob is accused of killing a classmate. It seems impossible to comprehend his son committing such a terrible crime, but fatherhood could be clouding his judgment. I’ve only watched one episode of this so far, but I already have my suspicions about who the murderer is and need to know what happens ASAP.
Documentary
Jonas Brothers: Happiness Continues
Yesterday in the early afternoon hours, the Jonas Brothers casually announced they would be releasing a concert documentary based on footage from last year’s Happiness Begins tour. Let me just say, that tour was an absolute blast. I went to see it two times because it was such a joy (something I’ve never done with any artist.) I can guarantee watching the footage back is going to be great. The world is a different place at a Jonas Brothers concert. Time stands still. You go to the Year 3000. It’s Burnin’ Up. Needless to say, this is a must-watch for all fans.
New Movie
Extraction
Starring: Chris Hemsworth
You are reading this correctly. We are getting new Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth content on the same day. It makes me so nostalgic for all of the times there were new Avengers movies this time of year. Endgame came out just one year ago this week. Those were happier times. Anyways, Extraction is about a man named Tyler Rake (which is a very fake movie name) who sets out on a dangerous extraction mission to rescue the kidnapped son of an imprisoned crime lord. The trailers haven’t sold me, but Chris Hemsworth is reason enough to give this a shot.
Sports
NFL Draft
Of course, if you are a sports fan you know that the NFL Draft is happening all weekend. Due to the coronavirus, it is happening virtually this year. It’s actually pretty entertaining to watch as Roger Goodell announces each pick in front of a TV. Then the players stare blankly into the abyss when their name is called because there’s a delay in the feed. It’s also super entertaining to see all of the coaches/general manager’s homes. The Tennessee Titans head coach provided the most entertaining footage last night with whatever is happening in his home.
Hopefully, you found something fun to watch among these options! What are you watching this weekend?
