What day is it? Who really knows anymore. I know that it is still a weekday and the weekend is getting close. Sadly, there aren’t many new movies available to stream this weekend, unlike last weekend when Trolls: World Tour took the world by storm. There are still some pretty good TV options to watch. Before the weekend hit, I wanted to do a quick update on a few new TV specials and series that will be airing in the next few days.
Upcoming Variety Specials
Disney Family Sing-A-Long
The Disney Family Sing-A-Long will premiere tonight at 8 PM with a star-studded lineup singing some of the classic Disney hits from their homes. This includes Ariana Grande, Josh Groban, Demi Lovato, and the cast of High School Musical (including Zac Efron!) singing “We’re All In This Together.” Oh, I forgot to mention that Donny Osmond is going to sing “I’ll Make a Man Out of You.” I’m so ready!
Where to Watch: ABC on April 16th at 8 PM
Lady Gaga’s One World Together: At Home
On Saturday night, Lady Gaga is launching a huge benefit concert to support the World Health Organization and Global Citizen. The benefit will be broadcast on a variety of networks, including ABC, CBS, and NBC. There will be tons of celebrity appearances (I’m assuming via Zoom) by Elton John, Taylor Swift, Celine Dion, Jennifer Lopez, Paul McCartney, and Jennifer Hudson. There has been no word on whether or not Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper will sing a duet of “Shallow,” but I’m holding out hope. Now is a perfect time. The world needs Ally and Jackson Maine now more than ever.
Where to Watch: ABC, CBS, NBC on April 18th at 8 PM
New Shows to Stream
Mrs. America Starring: Cate Blanchett, Rose Byrne, Uzo Aduba, Sarah Paulson
The new FX series (which can be found on Hulu) is all about second-wave feminists like Gloria Steinem and the opposition they faced by Phyllis Schlafly (Cate Blanchett) a Conservative activist who fought against the Equal Rights Amendment movement in the 1970s. This will probably be an Emmy contender with all of the acting talent involved.
Where to Watch: Hulu
The Bachelor: Listen To Your HeartIt’s okay to admit you watch the Bachelor. I admit it and have no shame. It’s an addicting show. The latest Bachelor spinoff is “Listen To Your Heart,” a reality dating show/singing competition. Think Bachelor Pad meets American Idol. Listen, it’s certainly not the same as watching the Bachelor or even Bachelor in Paradise, but while in quarantine, we need some kind of Chris Harrison-hosted reality T.V..V. to watch.
Where to Watch: Mondays at 8 PM on ABC (You can catch up on Hulu)
Outer Banks
I have not watched this show and don’t know if I could get through an entire episode. I’ve only seen the preview on the Netflix home page, and it looks like a Riverdale knock off. However, I did just read a description that explained it as “The O.C. meets Scooby-Doo,” which is probably the best thing I’ve read today.
Hopefully, you’ve found something that interests you in these recommendations!
Next week is a big week for me in quarantine because Chris Evans has a new series coming to Apple TV called Defending Jacob. Everybody get ready because I’m stuck inside with no new movie releases and a Chris Evans TV show. It might be the only thing I write about for weeks.
