Holidate

Is Emma Roberts following in Vanessa Hudgens's footsteps as the next teen star turned Christmas queen? Time will tell. For her first Christmas movie, Holidate follows two strangers who are tired of being single of the holidays. To remedy the situation, they agree to be each other’s dates for the year. Will they fall in love along the way? I can’t wait to find out.

Dash and Lily

I have to say; I love the idea of a Christmas mini-series! We need more of those. Dash and Lily is a mystery rom/com about cynical teen Dash who finds a red journal with a series of clues from hopeless romantic Lily. The two get to know each other through the journal sparking a special connection at Christmastime. New York City at Christmastime makes the perfect backdrop for the teen holiday series.

Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey

Riverdale fans, I know you’re wondering if this has any connection to the show. The answer is no. Jingle Jangle is a Christmas musical about a toymaker and his grandaughter who live in a whimsical world and his invention that could change their lives. I’m all for a Christmas musical!

The Princess Switch: Switched Again
Holiday cheer is a necessity every year, but in 2020 we need it more than ever. Vanessa Hudgens, ruler of Netflix Christmas originals is here to help. You may remember last year’s The Knight Before Christmas, an absolute classic if there ever was one. Well, this year, Vanessa stays booked and busy with the sequel to 2018’s The Princess Switch with The Princess Switch: Switched Again. I bet you’re dying to know what this movie is about? Well, when Princess Margaret (Vanessa Hudgens) inherits the throne to Montenaro, it’s up to Stacey (Vanessa Hudgens) to save the day before a NEW LOOKALIKE, Fiona (Vanessa Hudgens) stops their plans. That’s right; The Princess Switch is giving us a third lookalike. The drama. The intrigue. The Christmas spirit.

Dolly Parton: Christmas on the Square
Starring: Dolly Parton, Christine Baranski, Treat Williams, Jenifer Lewis
Another Christmas musical! Christine Baranski stars in Christmas on the Square as a greedy “Scrooge” looking to evict the small town of Fullerville on Christmas Eve. She is visited by an angel (Dolly Parton) who hopes to change her mind. Don’t you love how so many Christmas movies have to take place in a small town?

The Christmas Chronicles 2
Starring: Kurt Russell, Goldie Hawn, Darby Camp, Judah Lewis
Sadly, I have to say this, but I’m not a big fan of The Christmas Chronicles. On paper, it’s everything that I should love: Christmas, Kurt Russell as Santa, and joyful holiday festivities. The execution just fell flat for me. Not once while watching this movie did I think, “please, in 2020 let there be a Christmas Chronicles sequel.” Yet, here we are. It’s Christmas themed, so of course, I’ll watch it. Maybe it’ll improve upon the original.
Where to Watch: Netflix on November 25th
12 Dates of Christmas
If you’ve ever thought, “I wish The Bachelor was Christmas themed,” then HBO has you covered. 12 Dates of Christmas follows 6 single people who try to find love for the holidays. The show is from the same producers of Love is Blind, so I’m sure there will be drama, intrigue, and maybe dogs drinking wine?
Where to Watch: HBO Max on November 26th
My Gift: A Christmas Special From Carrie Underwood
There comes a time in every musician’s career when the Christmas album is a necessity. Yes, I love to hear songs about the ups and downs of their personal life, but I also want to hear a cover of “Rockin Around the Christmas Tree” for the 100th time. I don’t have enough versions of it on my phone. That time has come for Carrie Underwood. Her first Christmas album, My Gift, has just been released. To promote the album, Carrie will perform songs from the album in a festive holiday special for HBO Max.
Where to Watch: HBO Max on December 3rd

Disney’s latest original film is all about a fairy godmother (Jillian Bell) who tries to prove her skills by tracking down a woman whose wish was ignored. The trailer looks similar to Enchanted but is set at Christmas time.
