Whether you want something scary, Christmas themed, or Oscar-caliber, there are plenty of choices this weekend at the theater! Let’s take a look at what to watch.
Last Christmas
Starring: Emilia Clarke, Henry Goulding, Emma Thompson
November 8th is apparently prime Christmas movie release time now! 3 weeks before Thanksgiving seems a little early, but I’m not complaining because Christmas is my favorite time of year.
Last Christmas is all about a woman having a terrible time in life until she meets a mysterious man who helps turn her holiday season around. I’m pretty excited about this one. The two lead actors and Christmasy sets look lovely!
Doctor Sleep
Starring: Ewan McGregor, Rebecca Ferguson, Jacob Tremblay
If Halloween is more of your thing, it doesn’t have to be over at the movies! Doctor Sleep, the sequel to The Shining is out this weekend! (Why it wasn’t released two weeks ago is baffling, but I’ll never understand movie release schedules.) The story is about Danny Torrance (Ewan McGregor) as an adult, still traumatized with the events that took place at the overlook hotel.
Jojo Rabbit
Starring: Roman Griffin Davis, Scarlett Johansson, Thomasin McKenzie, Taika Waititi
Jojo Rabbit has been in limited release for a while now, but it finally expands nationwide this weekend! You can read my review of the movie here. I highly recommend checking this one out. It’s excellent.
Honey Boy
Starring: Noah Jupe, Shia LaBeouf, Lucas Hedges
Honey Boy was written by Shia LaBeouf detailing his childhood in the spotlight as he dealt with an abusive father. This one looks very emotional.
