What to Watch: July 19th

It’s prime summer movie time! After last weekend didn’t bring much to the table at the theater, this weekend shows more promise. So, what should you see?

The Lion King
Starring: Donald Glover, Beyonce, James Earl Jones, Seth Rogen
Disney’s latest live-action update roars into theaters this weekend. The 90’s classic has an impressive voice cast and is sure to be a huge summer hit.

The Farewell
Starring: Awkwafina, Tzi Ma, Diana Lin
The Farewell has been praised since the Sundance Film Festival in January. The film follows a Chinese family who discovers their grandmother is dying. When confronted with the news, they decide to keep it a secret from her and throw a big family gathering to make memories before she dies. Awkwafina takes on a more serious role in the film leading to critical praise. It is in limited release this weekend and expanding each week.

The Art of Self Defense
Starring: Jesse Eisenberg, Imogene Poots, Alessandro Nivola
This dark comedy follows a man who takes up Karate to defend himself after being randomly attacked on the street, but things at the Dojo may not be exactly as they seem.
