There’s been a ton of buzz surrounding the upcoming The Little Mermaid live-action remake. It’s one of Disney’s most iconic animated films, so who will play the beloved characters? This summer, singer Halle Bailey was cast in the title role of Ariel. It was also announced that Awkwafina would voice Scuttle, and Jacob Tremblay would be the voice of Flounder. One major question remained. Who would be Prince Eric? Rumors swirled that singer Harry Styles landed the role. That proved to be false when he said no to the project.
It has just been confirmed that actor Jonah Hauer-King will play Prince Eric. But who is he? King has previously appeared in A Dog’s Way Home and the BBC’s Little Women mini-series as Laurie. One thing’s for sure, King has some major shoes to fill considering Prince Eric is one of Disney’s dreamiest princes. I’m excited to see him take on the role.
