Why didn’t the Social Network win Best Picture in 2011?
This is an excellent question. I think about it every day of my life. Let’s take The Social Network out of the equation for a second. 2011 was one of the strongest years for Best Picture we’ve ever had. Black Swan, The Tree of Life, AND Inception were all nominated. Hello, that’s what I call strength. Those movies alone all make a major case for Best Picture. However, The Social Network exists as the greatest film of all time so we know that it rightfully deserved that Oscar.

January 2011. The night I saw The Social Network for the first time.
